One of the biggest advantages of sit on tops is complete novices can become great paddlers in a matter of minutes. They are much safer than inflatable’s, faster in the water so you can get to great locations, and robust so you can pull them up on the slipways when you get there.

Where we operate: We are centrally located on the river Dart from the small village of Stoke Gabriel. We store our boats on the quay where you park (£3.50 for the day). In 2 hours you can explore for wildlife, or head somewhere quiet and get out from the “Day to day” and have time to think, plan and dream. If you want to head further afield than the 3 hour (half day) hire allows you to head upriver to Sharpham and the Anchor Stone Cafe, and the fabulous Sharpham vineyard for wine and cheese. Riverside pubs can be found on Bow creek at the Malsters arms or downriver at Dittisham, with time to explore this unique Devon village.

What we provide: Our kayaks are brand new and suitable for total beginners being very stable and fitted with backrests. We also supply you with paddles, buoyancy aids plus a dry bag to carry your own gear. We will talk to you on arrival to understand your plans and then come up with ideas that you can choose from depending on tidal and weather conditions.

Buoyancy aids are provided to everone going onto the water and must be worn at all times.

All under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult, and everyone must be able to swim 50m.

Advance Booking is strongly recommended although boats are often available on the day.

What to Bring: You will get a wet bum so having a change of clothing and towel makes stopping off at the pub or driving home more comfortable.  We do not provide paddle clothing so suggest you come dressed in shorts and non cotton t shirt and hat if sunny, with sun cream and bottled water. If looking cooler or wet than jogging bottoms, warm jumper, waterproofs or wetsuit. Shoes that are grippy and you don’t mind getting muddy or wet are also essential. Having water or juice to drink whilst paddling and packed lunch is also good paddling practice and we provide dry bags for you to carry this in.
Any questions please don't be embarrassed to call, we would rather you came properly prepared for a great day out on the water! If you are late in returning the boat you will be charged for a full day.
Your safety is our first priority and we reserve the right not to hire if we feel the tides or weather conditions are not suitable to hire irrespective of the paddlers ability.
